Let's Brag about being in

Special Education.

After all it is called SPECIAL!!!

Create your own t-shirts &  make a fortune selling them to others!

Make a private charm that is engraved "Worth My Weight in Gold".

All children in Special Education  bring lots of money into their school district.  And when that money isn't enough,  states have Safety Net funds to which school districts can apply  for extraordinary costs, once they prove the need and open up their financial records to show how they are honestly using their special education funds.  A lot of school board members and general citizenry think  our kids break the bank, instead of being "golden nuggets"!!

Calling all parent activists: especially those who are financial experts, CPAs, etc.   Investigate,  and educate your school board and general  public!

Fire up your imagination - Make your own catchy bumper stickers:

"How's Your I.E.P. ?"

"Teacher - the most beautiful word in the English language"

Flash - Flash-

Many activists, and some children and adults with disabilities in "special education" do not like to be called "special".  Would any of us, when there are stigmas attached?

Right now disability rights laws and funding have strong attachments  to "special education".  So, here's a thought for the future:  Let's work to give our greatest power - the "Individualized Education Program" to all students in public school.  Every student needs one.

In 1970, 3 mothers, a citizen activist and 2 law students in the state of Washington called themselves "Education for All". They wrote and lobbied to passage a mandatory education law which became a model for PL94-142 named after them, the "Education For All Handicapped Children" Act.  (Amended to become Individuals with Disabilities Act - IDEA).  Now we are ready for another name change in our civil rights movement.    How about Scientific  Education".  Think about it for the amazing future.
